Tragedy occurred, on Tuesday , in Ibadan as two churches and a furniture shop, Ayo’s Furniture and Interior Decoration, were burnt. The fire mostly affected plastic chairs and PVC materials used for ceiling decorations, which were completely burnt. The owner of the shop, Ibrahim Bolumade , said he lost over N100 million to the inferno. A former Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Hon. Justice Emmanuel Olayinka Ayoola (JSC, rtd), is dead. He was 90. As gathered, Ayoola died on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. A close source confirmed the passing of the revered justice to The Guardian. Ayoola, born on October 27, 1933, retired from the Supreme Court in 2003 at the mandatory age of 70. The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Tuesday, affirmed the lower court judgment that reinstated Philip Shaibu as the Deputy Governor of Edo State. The appellate court, while delivering judgment in the appeal brought before it by the Edo State House of Assembly, dismissed the appeal seeking to uphold Shaibu’s impeachment. Shaibu was impeached on April 8, 2024, following the adoption of the report of a seven-man committee set up by the state Chief Judge, Justice Daniel Okungbowa, to investigate allegations of misconduct against him. The Oyo Hospitals Management Board has announced that it has shortlisted a total of 1,250 applicants from the 5,000 entries received for an upcoming Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) examination.  According to the board, the  decision follows a comprehensive review process involving representatives from the Head of Service, Civil Service Commission, Ministry of Establishment and Training, and the Oyo Hospitals Management Board.
