By Wuraola Oyedokun  Authorities of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo  Town, Ondo State, have berated a handful of some traducers who staged a protest against the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adesegun Fatusi, in Akure, the state capital. A  self-styled group  which calls itself , the Coalition of Ondo State Indigenes Against Corruption (COIAC), had on Tuesday staged a protest against Prof. Fatusi,accusing him of  corruption. The university punctured the  allegations of corruption leveled against the VC,  saying the accusations  were unfounded and baseless. The Federal High Court in Abuja, on Wednesday, reinstated Philip Shaibu as the Deputy Governor of Edo State. The court nullified the impeachment process by the Edo State House of Assembly, deeming it unconstitutional. The court also ordered the Inspector General of Police to immediately restore Shaibu’s security details and mandated the payment of his salaries and allowances from April. This comes after Shaibu was removed from office in April 2024, and Godwins Omobayo was sworn in as his replacement. Shaibu had described his removal as illegal and vowed to fight it. Students of the University of Ibadan (UI), Ibadan,  on Wednesday, halted all vehicular movements and transportation systems within the campus.  The transportation system within the campus was paralysed as a result of the ongoing protest embarked upon by the students. Dr.  Fagbemi made this known during an official visit to some of the health facilities in the state. The chairman  urged them to always attend  to patients with words of encouragement that will reduce the burden of sickness brought to the hospital by those patients. Protest is currently ongoing among students of the University of Ibadan in Oyo State over introduction of a 10-hour daily electricity supply within the campus. It was gathered that the institution introduced a 10-hour daily electricity supply with effect from Tuesday. The new policy was contained in a memo issued by the department of works and maintenance of the institution. The memo, dated 16th July, 2024, was signed by the Director of Works, Engineer O.A.
