Yoruba Council of Elders [YCE] and an elder statesman, Dr. Kunle Olajide, on Thursday, mourned the passage of the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu, who passed away yesterday, in Abuja at the age of 82.
Jide Iwuanyanwu, the son of the late Chief, in a statement, said the 82-year-old Iwuanyanwu died after struggling with illness.
Speaking with with journalists, the Secretary-General of YCE, Chief Oladipo Oyewo and Dr. Olajide, said the death of Iwuanyanwu was a great loss to Nigeria, the sports community and the media world.
YCE’s scribe said: ‘’It is a huge loss to Nigeria and Nigerians. We are going to miss his great contributions to sports, business and the media.He was a great philanthropist. May God comfort his family’’.
Olajide, on his part, said: ‘’It is very sad that the man is dead. He was a patriot. He invested heavily in sports, newspapers and business. I condole all Nigerians and Easterners on the loss of the chief’’.
