Oyo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social inclusion,Mrs oluwatoyin Balogun and the Nigeria Association of Women journalists (NAWOJ) in the state have called for synergy to enhance the welfare of women and children in society.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the executive members of NAWOJ, Oyo State chapter in her office, at Secretariat,Ibadan, Mrs. Balogun emphasised that women, especially, must be empowered for them to contribute their quota to the nation’s development.
The Commissioner, while acknowledging that the economic challenges the nation is facing have more effects on women and children, noted that her ministry had taken a lot of steps in ensuring that women are gainfully employed in the state.
Balogun also explained that a lot of events are being set up for the aged and the physically challenged in the society to alleviate their suffering.
In her remark, the chairperson, Oyo NAWOJ, Mrs. Omolola Alamu said their visit was aimed at familiarising and to foster synergy with the ministry in mediating in the affairs of women, children ,aged and the vulnerable in the society.
The NAWOJ Chairperson explained the need for the association and the ministry to partner in the effort of campaigning for the inclusiveness of the downtrodden in the society.
The visit had members of the Executive of NAWOJ in attendance.
