The Gallant Female Unit of Man o’ War Nigeria, Oyo State Command, led by DSM Salako Azeezat, on May 28,2024, marked the third edition of World Menstrual Hygiene day ,tagged: ‘PAD HER UP 3.0.’
The day is dedicated to sensitising girls all over the world on the importance of good menstrual hygiene and fostering self-confidence.
DSM Salako Azeezat, who is the gallant female officer in charge of the unit gave lectures on good menstrual hygiene.
In a statement released by the State PRO, AMC Adeniyi Ademiluyi (JP FCSS), the project was approved by the State Commander; Alhaji Yekeen Lukman (FCSS).
Salako noted that the initiative aims to encourage open discussions about the use of sanitary pads, the basic rules of menstrual hygiene and how these discussions are crucial for promoting a hygienic and healthy life for women.
The gallent officer pointed out that the project which has grown to be a yearly event, focusing on two schools in Ibadan this year; Our Lady of Apostles, Odo-ona, Ibadan and Queens School Apata, Ibadan.
She disclosed that the female unit of the organisation reached out to 1,000 students this year , educating them on the natural process of menstruation and providing them with sanitary pads and soap to maintain cleanliness during their menstrual cycles.
Salako added that Man O’ War Nigeria is a youth, voluntary organization that focuses on youth development and selfless service. Activities that would promote goodwill, social education and coordination are our priority, hence, this project as been adopted as one of the core assignments of the Gallant Female Department as approved by the State Command yearly, as this is the third edition with efforts to continuing same in future years.
