As part of its belief and vision for education, a major ethno-political movement in Ogun State, Awori4OgunGov2027, has given out scholarships to students studying at higher institutions.
The Coordinator of the movement, Azeem Salako, made this known to the press while presenting cheques to the beneficiaries.
Salako, who made the presentation at the organisation’s office, said: “We reached out to the Federation of Awori Student Unions (FASU) to send the names of two people who needed partial funding for their tuition.
“The organisation then sent the names with details of their tuition, and we were convinced the sum of N50,000 was significant to give each of them, and even in the case of one of them, more than what he needed to balance his tuition.
“Our focus for now with this intervention is on Awori communities in Ogun State, but we will soon extend our goodwill to other communities in Ogun West and across Ogun State.”
Salako noted that the Awori4OgunGov2027 movement has decided to engage in socio-economic and developmental interventions that would give hints on what the group represents and seeks power to achieve and which would define the pedigree of candidates the organization would promote.
In his response on the source of funding, Salako said this particular intervention was his personal donation to the organisation as an exemplary way to drive and strengthen the Awori mandate ahead of the 2027 election in Ogun State, which he maintained was the turn of any candidate of Awori descent.
He concluded that there are other plans underway to announce our presence and readiness, which would show the organization is definitely ready to serve as a platform for such a huge political agenda.
The beneficiaries were Mr. Lawal Muhammed, who is a final-year Library and Information Science student at the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State, and Ms. Lateef Muhinat Toyin, who is studying insurance at the Lagos State University (400l).
Both were unavoidably absent but  represented by Olamilekan Abiodun and Hassan Abdulgafar Folorunsho, respectively, and on their behalf, they thanked the organization for their gesture and the exceptional struggle it is rendering Awori land for inclusivity in politics.
The FASU chairman, Comr. Anisere Adebayo, noted that the student body would remain undaunted in their advocacy and promotion of Awori interests both in Lagos and Ogun State. He said it was about the time that the Awori people unites and delivers themselves from political balkanization, which he noted has neither helped the development of their land nor promoted their socio-cultural identity.
The presentation of the cheques for which beneficiaries have confirmed payment was done at the organization’s head office in Ota and had in attendance notable youths in the Awori community.
