The Oyo State Government has concluded plans to transmit an Executive Bill to the State House of Assembly for legislative consideration and approval of renaming of The First Technical University, Ibadan, after the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state.
It would be recalled that the Governor established the technical university during his tenure.
The Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Oyo State, Biodun Aikomo, disclosed this to journalists, on Wednesday, shortly after the state Executive Council meeting held at the Governor’s Office, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.
Aikomo said the Executive Bill, when approved by the state legislature, would give the school renaming a constitutional backing.
The government also disclosed its plan to set a commission for all tertiary institutions in the state.
Aikomo sais the executive bill, which he said would be called Oyo State Tertiary Institutions Bill would consequently give birth to the creation of Oyo state tertiary institution commission.
The new commission will oversee all state owned tertiary institutions in the state.
