The Federal Government, over the weekend, reiterated its commitment to rescue many Nigerians out of poverty by empowering the youths and women with right skill sets.
The government made the pledge during a two-day training and empowerment of youths and women in Oyo South senatorial district which was held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan.
The training was sponsored by Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, Abuja under the Federal Ministry of Youths and Social Development, Abuja while Kruggerbrent and co. Nigeria anchored the programme.
Over 50 youths and women were trained in various vocations, including bead making.
Oluwatoyin Olayinka from the Federal Ministry of Youths and Social Development, who was there to enforce the skill acquisition project, said, ‘’it is to empower the youths and women in Oyo State. It is a programme which is very close to the heart of the Ministry using its parastatal, Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, Abuja. We are here to ensure the programme achieves its aims by empowering over 50 youths and women. They are learning vocations to empower them.
‘’The youths must keep making money legitimately. It is possible to make money legitimately that is why we are encouraging them to embrace this empowerment’’.
Instructors at the event include Aderonke Adesewa Adeniji, Omobola Agbaje and others, urged the trainees to take full advantage of the empowerment, while the beneficiaries of the project expressed their gratitude to the Federal Government for organizing the programme.
