The Oyo State High Court sitting in Ogbomoso, on Wednesday, nullified the appointment of the new Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye.
The Oyo State Government announced Pastor Ghandi Olaoye as the new Soun and was made Soun on September 8, 2023.
It would be recalled that one of the contestants,Kabir Laoye who was sued for taking Soun’s position, , had appealed that Ghandi Olaoye was not eligible to take Soun’s position.
The court ordered at that time that the Oyo State government must not appoint anyone to the position, until judgment is delivered on the matter but the Oyo State government  appointed Pastor Ghandi Laoye as the new Soun of Ogbomoso.
Prince Kabir, who sued to challenge Ghandi’s appointment, said there was a flaw in the process.
He is urging the Court not to accept the appointment of this new king, and ordered the kingmakers to start the process of appointing another Soun.
While delivering his judgment, Justice Adedokun announced that the appointment of Oba Laoye was illegal.
He also ordered that the right process to elect a new Soun should begin.
Earlier, Judge Adedokun dismissed three petitions brought before him by one of the accusers, Prince Adeyemi Taofiq Akorede Laoye.
The petitions are also challenging the appointment of the new Soun.
