A leader of the Progressives Congress [APC], Alhaji Liad Tella, has congratulated the candidate of the APC in Ondo State and incumbent Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa, over his victory in the governorship polls.
It would be recalled that the Indepen dent National Electoral Commission [INEC] had declared Ayedatiwa as the winner of the Saturday polls.
Ayedatiwa, who won in Ese Odo Local Government Area in the last LG result presented on Sunday at the State Collation Centre in Akure, had previously won in the 17 LGs earlier announced.
In the final declaration of the result by the State Returning Officer, Prof Olayemi Akinwumi, he said the All Progressives Congress’ candidate, Ayedatiwa polled in total of 366,781 votes to defeat Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party, who got 117,845 votes.
Speaking with journalists in Ibadan, Tella, who is a veteran journalist, said it was natural for the APC to win, saying the People’s Democratic Party [PDP] was in ruins.
The former Managing Director of a national daily said: ‘’It is natural for the APC to win in Ondo State, because the PDP is a divided party. It is in ruins, ready for the dungeon of destruction. So, who will want to associate with such a party?’’
Tella also said the prophecy of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on Ayedatiwa had come to pass.
‘’The late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu had prophesied that the world had become that of the victorious governor. The man is a lucky man. Akeredolu was a prophet’’, he said.
He, however, urged Ayedatiwa to be fair to all.
Tella said: ‘’He must maintain equity among Muslims and Christians in Ondo State. Muslims have been marginalised in the state’’.
