The Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria has appealed to dramatis persona in the Rivers State political inbroglio to give peace a chance.
The call was contained in a communique issued at the end of the general meeting of the Conference held in Abuja but made available to journalists in Ibadan.
There has been political tumult in Rivers State largely traced to the disagreement between the incumbent Governor, Similalaye Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
The development has led to the factionalisation of the Rivers State House of Assembly and resignation of nine commissioners working with Fubara.
Concerned by the development, the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures made a passionate appeal to political gladiators in the state to seek peaceful means of resolving the crisis between the legislative and executive arms of government in the State.
