The Oyo State house of Assembly, Tuesday, urged the state government to renovate and upgrade Cultural Center, Mokola hilltop, Ibadan to modern cinema standard.
The House made the call while reacting to a motion moved by the member representing Ibadan North 2 constituency, Honourable Gabriel Babajide during today’s plenary presided by Speaker, Honorable Adebo Ogundoyin.
Honourable Babajide, while presenting the motion said the centre is long due for renovation.
He argued that the it will serve it purpose of being an international tourism attraction, and add to the internally generated revenue of Oyo State if upgraded to modern cinema standard.
The Speaker and lawmakers who commended Honourable Babajide, thrown their support behind the call for the renovation and upgrading of Cultural Center, built in 1977 on one of the seven hills that make up Ibadan land.
