The Ibadan-based human rights and labour lawyer, Femi Aborisade, over the weekend, urged Nigerians to undertake mass actions against various inhuman steps and policies of President Bola Tinubu government.
Speaking in Ibadan, Aborisade said the mass actions became imperative to safeguard their rights to a life of comfort as opposed to PBAT’s renewed hardship misnamed renewed hope programme.
He emphasised that the regime of President Tinubu would go down in history as the worst in the entire history of Nigeria, from the standpoint of the well-being of ordinary people.
The activist lamented that the unprecedented devaluation of the Naira and the policy of floating of the national currency meant the destruction of the purchasing power of the downtrodden.
He said: “There is no controversy about it. The regime of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would go down in history as the worst in the entire history of Nigeria, from the standpoint of the well-being of ordinary people. PBAT’s government is the most precious and vicious government as far as unprecedented attacks on living standards are concerned.
“The unprecedented devaluation of the Naira and the policy of floating of the national currency mean the destruction of the purchasing power of the downtrodden. The unprecedented high cost of fuel means direct attacks on the living standards of the people. There is a direct relationship between the price of fuel and the prices of all other goods and services. The unprecedented sudden increases in the price of fuel have caused unprecedented inflation in the midst of unprecedented poverty and unemployment.
“The masses must organise to undertake unprecedented mass actions to safeguard their right to a life of comfort as opposed to PBAT’s renewed hardship misnamed renewed hope programme”.
