The body of Yoruba youth groups, Yoruba Youth Socio-Cultural Association (YYSA), over the weekend , decried pervasive and pervading kidnappings in the Southwest.
This was contained in a statement signed by  Olalekan Hammed (National President) and Olawale Ajao (National Secretary) and made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
YYSA said it was highly perturbed with the alarming rate of kidnapping in Southwest region and the entire country.
“There is no doubt, Nigeria as a nation is sliding into the unrest situation that had been experienced in last eight years of the previous administration”, the group said.
It stated the compelling need to re-equip Amotekun Corps for effective service delivery if the region truly is serious about ensuring peace.
It implored Southwest governors to do the needful on time as kidnapping terribly becoming increasing day by day.
It said: “Besides that, it seems as if our southwestern network security outfit known as Amotekun is not as effective as before.
“There is an urgent need to reequip them for effective service delivery if we truly serious about ensuring peace in our region.
“Intelligence gathering is also another aspect our governors must look into. Amotekun officers must be trained and retrained regularly because updating will go a long way in improving their skills in anti-terror fight.
“We implore Southwest governors to do the needful on time as Kidnapping terribly becoming increasing day by day”.
