The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has got a new Commandant. He is Commandant Augustine Padonu.
According to a statement signed by the Civil Defence Public Relations Officer, DSC Samuel Opebiyi, the outgoing commandant, Dr. Michael Adaralewa, officially handed over to Padonu.
Adaralewa formally handed Padonu the handover note, signifying the handing over of authority. Padonu took up the mantle of leadership and the handover note.
The outgoing commandant will now assume leadership of the Osun State Command, carrying on his outstanding service.
Adaralewa conveyed his belief in Padonu’s capacity to efficiently oversee the Oyo State Command.
Padonu gave a tour of all the Departments, Units, and other facilities within the Command Headquarters before the ceremony commenced.
The new commandant, highlighted his commitment to expanding on the preexisting foundation, he recognized the legacy of his predecessor. He underlined the value of cooperation and teamwork and promised to work closely with all staff members to increase the Command’s efficacy and efficiency in protecting the lives and property of Oyo State residents.
The new commandant is a native of Badagry in Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role through his various ranks since his enlistment in 2005, he boasts of a distinguished career marked by leadership positions across various departments and divisions within the NSCDC. His proven track record and commitment to security operations bode well for the future of the Oyo State Command.
He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Imo State, in 2004 and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Accounting from the University of Jos in 1996.
Padonu has held several positions within the NSCDC, such as Head of Department (HOD) for Intelligence and Investigation in Osun State Command and Head of Department (HOD) for Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) in Lagos State Command. Additionally, he has served in a number of formations across the nation, including the FCT Command, Lagos State Command, and Kaduna State Command, as an Area Commander and Divisional Officer. Commandant Padonu is renowned for his dedication to perfection, outstanding leadership qualities, and aptitude for strategic planning.
In addition to his remarkable professional advancement, he offers a polished skill set developed throughout several training initiatives. His qualifications in fields such as Small Arms Training, Leadership Development, Enforcement and Monitoring Course, Inter-agency Cooperation and Conflict Resolution, and more show his dedication to lifelong learning and flexibility. These extensive training have given him the know-how to successfully negotiate challenging security situations and work with others in a fast-paced industry.
